Plans have been revealed for two new classrooms to be built at Seaton Academy.

The school has applied to Allerdale council to replace a portable building currently used for its nursery children with two permanent classrooms.

Christina Banks, headteacher, said: "The planning application seeks approval for two classrooms to replace the building which we currently use for our nursery children.

"Its planning permission was granted in May 2014 but had a condition imposed that the period of lease be limited to three years due to the structure being inappropriate as a permanent building.

"It has allowed us to accommodate all applicants and for this to continue we need to permanently extend.

"We are in the early stages of the development and subject to planning approval the works would commence as soon as practically possible."

The development would be a single storey extension, with toilets and a kitchen area.

It would be free standing from the existing building and a roof would join the two parts of the school, which currently has 246 pupils.
