Maryport's Paralympic hero Simon Lawson visited Workington Academy to talk about his career and his experience of this summer’s Rio games.

The 34-year-old wheelchair racer spoke to students and talked about his journey from being a motocross rider to becoming a Paralympic athlete. He held question and answer sessions afterwards.

Sarah Fitzsimons, curriculum leader of personal development, said: “His story is very inspiring and we wish him well in the future.”

Simon said: “It was a pleasure speaking to students and I hope they can all take something away after hearing my story.”
