Students across West Cumbria will learn how to give their job and education prospects a boost at a free workshop next week.

The Cumbria Joint Institution Group, which is a partnership of professional bodies including The Institution of Mechanical Engineers and The Institute of Chemical Engineers has organised an event which will help youngsters find opportunities and how to perform well at interviews.

The Student Aspiration Workshop will take place at Lakes College, Lillyhall on Thursday, January 14 at 6pm.

James King, senior consultant at React Engineering, said: "It's really important because it's an untapped resource. There's a lot of guidance out there, but it's important the industry is able to give advice.

"It gives the next generation an insight and gives them the edge when it comes to applying for jobs."

The event will also feature talks from employers who will also tell students what they look for in job applications.
