Eleven Lakes College business students raised £273 to fund research into cancer by holding a bake sale.

The students, who are studying for their level two NVQ, organised the event to raise money and awareness for Stand Up To Cancer.

Christine Baty, a Lakes College tutor who helped to organise the event, said: "It was a great day and the team worked brilliantly together.

"The students chose the charity as statistics show that many of us will get cancer at some point in our lives, and they felt it was a vital cause to raise money for.

"They really enjoyed ordering all the merchandise online and organising the whole event. I’m so proud of them."

Stand Up To Cancer has raised more than £15,000 nationally so far this year.
