Teachers at a Workington primary school have seen an improvement in children’s behaviour since they started doing more exercise after lunch.
Year five and six students at Westfield Primary School are training to become fitness leaders and are showing younger pupils how to have fun while getting fit after lunch.
The Fun Fit Club has been set up with national company Freddy Fit.
So far, instructors have trained around 20 children as fitness leaders.
The latest leaders were trained this week in how to lead activity sessions, which can include dancing warm-ups, obstacle courses, hula-hooping and other games.
The children have to wear florescent jackets and take responsibility for running the sessions.
The aim is not only to promote fitness but also to develop leadership skills in the nine to 11 year-olds.
