A MARYPORT gym is offering people the chance to take part in free weight management classes.
Dougie Pomfret, manager of Fit 4 Life, the community facility in Grasslot, has funding to run two sessions of a 10-week course looking at healthy eating and exercise.
The programme will run from 1.30pm to 2.30pm on Tuesdays and will include a talk and exercise.
He said: “What we are trying to do is help people to eat healthily as a way of life. We have run a similar course to this in the past and all but one of the people on it lost weight.
“But we are not offering a ‘lose eight pounds in one week’ type of diet. With those, people soon put on all or more of what they lost.”
He said the classes are for anyone of any age, male or female, or any stage of fitness.
Anyone interested in taking part can call Mr Pomfret on 01900 814782.
