Comic book covers created by Marvel mastermind Stan Lee will be available to view and buy at a Lake District gallery.

From Friday August 12 to Sunday 21, the Treeby & Bolton art gallery in the centre of Keswick welcomes its latest instalment of Marvel Superheroes - a portfolio of iconic covers.

The new release in the record-breaking Marvel Superheroes series consists of six images hand-signed by Stan Lee that pay homage to some of Marvel’s most memorable characters, including Spider-Man, Wolverine and Captain America - one of the company’s most long-standing characters who made his comic book debut 75 years ago.

All of the limited edition Marvel art is created, curated and hand-signed by comic book legend Stan Lee, the man who – along with comic book artists such as Jack Kirby – is responsible for the creation of many of the comic’s most well-loved characters.

With complex, three-dimensional characters, Stan Lee has helped to breathed life into flat portrayals of good and evil, putting the human into superhuman. These Marvel limited edition prints encapsulate those characters which have won the hearts of fans the world over and gone on to become global entertainment sensations.

Paula Franks, from Treeby & Bolton, says: "It's always an exciting time for us at Treeby's when the new Stan Lee Marvel collection is unveiled. We can't wait until they physically arrive at the gallery so you can see them in the flesh.

"That's when you can admire them properly and to see Stan Lee's signature on the pieces is a very special moment. I'm a Marvel fan myself so it's a pleasure coming to work when the new collection arrives."

Saturday also sees the chance to meet artist Clare Wright at the Treeby & Bolton gallery.

Clare’s work demonstrates her flair for contemporary colour, texture and diverse materials; liquid glass, metals and Swarovski crystals.

She will be in attendance from noon to 3pm.

Clare began working on canvas, before developing a range of artwork on coloured aluminium, creating a water, splash effect and 3D Originals. She developed a process ‘liquid glass’ and now her business is thriving on her flair for contemporary colour, texture and diverse materials such as liquid glass, metal and Swarovski crystal.

Now with a flourishing business and celebrity clients the thrill and her passion for her work is ever-growing.

Paula adds: "I am delighted to welcome back Clare to show case her latest work and hear her inspiration behind it. It's a pleasure to see her passion for her pieces of art.

"She loves creating unusual pieces that her many fans love having them in their home."

The event is free to attend.
