ATOMIC Kitten, 5ive, A1 and Kelly Llorenna will be headlining a Workington festival next year.

The stars are among the acts to perform at TownFest organised by Workington Town club on May 20.

Les Smallwood, business development director for the club, said: "We want to give people in West Cumbria some good music to listen to and a good event to attend.

"It's just something different from what we usually get around here."

Atomic Kitten sold over 8 million records including Right Now, Feels So Good and Whole Again.

Founder member of the girl band Kerry Katona re-joined Liz McClarnon and Natasha Hamilton in 2012.

Boy band 5ive had sold 20 million records worldwide when they split up in 2001 with singles such as Everybody Get Up and When the Lights Go Out.

The reunited band now has three members - Sean Conlon, Ritchie Neville, and Scott Robinson.

A1, winners of a Brit Award for Best British Breakthrough Act in 2001, became famous in 1999 with a series of hit singles such as Caught In The Middle and Same Old Brand New You.

The trio made up of Ben Adams, Mark Read and Christian Ingebrigtsen took a break in 2002 to pursue solo projects but got back together seven years later.

And Kelly Llorenna had seven top 20 hits between 1995 and 2004 with singles such as Set You Free, True Love Never Dies and Tell It To My Heart.

Mr Smallwood added: "It's going to be a high profile event.

"Since we were relegated last year we've been losing a lot of money and we needed to come up with ideas to raise the profile of the club.

"If this event goes well we'll be looking at hosting bigger bands later in the year.

"It's a one day event and we'll also have local bands performing, we're still in the process of finalising everything.

"I would like people to come out and support this event and hopefully we can grow year on year.

"It's an opportunity to see some great bands without having to travel out of town."

Other acts already announced for the event include Late Night Legacy, Reptilians, Dicky Dippinson and Holborn Hillbillies.

Tickets cost £35 and are available to buy from the Workington Town club office and online at tickets.tygit.com
