A rising star of the blues world is heading to Cockermouth this weekend as part of a month-long European tour.

The Kirkgate Centre is one of eight UK venues for blues guitarist Ryan McGarvey's 28-date tour.

It marks his return to the place where he played his first UK headline gig in 2013.

Ryan's music absorbs influences ranging from early delta blues to classic hard rock to more contemporary blues/rock.

He has consistently appeared in annual blues awards since 2006 and has shared the bill with Eric Clapton, who invited him to play at the Crossroads Festival in 2010, Jeff Beck, Joe Bonamassa, the late BB Kings and others.

In 2013 he was named best new talent by Guitar Player Magazine and won the best guitarist accolade at The European Blues Awards in 2014.

He will be supported at the Kirkgate Centre by Cockermouth's own blues heroes Crow Dog.

Sunday's show starts at 4pm and tickets are £12.50 in advance or £15 on the door.

Advance tickets are available from Billy Bowman Music on Lowther Went, the Kirkgate Centre on 01900 826448 and online at www.toptablepromotions.co.uk
