Workington town centre will be busy with a range of events coming up.

Tomorrow, the town will host a health and well-being festival.

Gyms and health groups will offer entertainment and encouragement for people to get exercising and get fitter at the free family fun day.

Music will be provided by Chris Farlowe, best known for Out of Time, which was number one in 1966.

He will be supported by local band South Quay and performers Gordon Mattinson and Just Jock.

There will be crafts, giant crosswords, massages, a rodeo bull, tarot cards, a selfie stage where people can dress up and take pictures of themselves and open mic sessions.

Murray Road and Finkle Street will be closed to traffic from 1am tomorrow morning until 8pm.

Organisers said they would try to accommodate drivers who needed to access the roads between 1am and 7am.

Other events planned for next month include next Saturday, September 3 when Stephen Bailey will be singing blues, rock ’n’ roll and swing numbers.

On September 10, male and female dancers from Ignite Dance School will be performing there.

The last concert of the season, on September 17, will be by local choir Sing Owt! who have appeared at the Sage in Gateshead.

The performances run from 1pm to 3pm.

The summer’s live music events are part of the cultural programme laid on in Workington.
