Cockermouth by Candlelight takes place tonight.
A lantern parade will make its way through town from Riversmeet in Market Street at 6pm.
Many shops will stay open late, with candles in their doorways.
The event has been organised by The Kirkgate Centre, Allerdale council and Brian Mitchelhill of Cockermouth Rotary Club.
The procession will set off from Riversmeet, at Bitterbeck Car Park.
Participants are asked to meet at 5.30pm.
This year's parade has a Christmas banquet theme, with lanterns expected in the shape of turkeys, Christmas puddings and crackers.
The parade will be led by Cockermouth Music Centre's Samba Band and head along Main Street to the United Reformed Church.
At the church there will be carol singing and refreshments.
