A well-used Cockermouth footbridge has been closed while crucial repairs are carried out.
The Memorial Gardens footbridge, which links Main Street with Wakefield Road, was closed today.
There is a problem with one of the supports which sits in the River Derwent.
A county council spokesperson said: "Until we can establish what action we need to take we cannot say how long the bridge will be closed."
