A record attendance is expected for the 139th annual Loweswater Show which takes place on Sunday.

The show, which will happen in Lorton Valley will feature a wide range of animals, food and entertainment.

Doors will open around 9.30am with the horse classes with the sheep and poultry judging and open sheep dog trials also in the morning line-up.

In the afternoon the heavy horse, children's pets, dog classes and vintage classes will be judged and the hound trials will round off the day at around 4pm.

Cockermouth Mechanics Band will perform on the day and there will be wrestling, children's games, fell races and a beer tent.

A grand parade and a fancy dress parade are also scheduled towards the end of the day.

Rachel Moore, organiser, said: "We're certainly ready and everything's under control. Last year we had a really good show and we're going from strength to strength. 

"We're just trying to build on last year's success and we're really happy with the programme."

The show will take place opposite New House Farm on the B5289.
