Labour Party members will be on the streets of Cockermouth to voice their concerns about the Government's proposals for new grammar schools.
The party will hold a day of action from 11am to 2pm today and will have a stall on Main Street, near Boots.
People will also be able to sign a petition against the plans which were outlined by prime minister Theresa May earlier this year.
Workington MP Sue Hayman is expected to attend.
Barbara Cannon, campaign co-ordinator, said: "The Labour Party feels that we need to make sure that everyone has a decent education and not create a two-tier system.
"I'm intending to do similar events in Maryport and Workington. I think it'll be interesting to see how many teachers come to support us."
Mrs May is proposing to lift the ban on opening new grammar schools and has argued that it would enhance social mobility.
Following his re-election last week, Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn called for every constituency to hold a day of action tomorrow in protest at the plans.
Keswick School headteacher Simon Jackson has criticised the proposals and believes that they will split families and communities apart.
