Newly elected president Jo Crozier, of Dale View, came up with the idea as part of marking the WI's centenary.

The wreath is made up of more than 75 neatly knitted and crocheted poppies, in various shades of red.

She said: "Lots of people have been involved. It's our centennial year this year and there have been lots of celebrations but it's also really important to remember the men and women who died in the war."

A further 50 poppies have been made and members hav been selling them to raise money for the Royal British Legion.
