An unnamed candidate is set to stand against one Cumbrian MP in the forthcoming election – as a fish finger.
The bizarre move comes after an internet poll allegedly asked more than 1,000 people who would they rather lead them, Westmorland and Lonsdale MP Tim Farron, or a fish finger.
Those behind the poll claim 99 per cent voted for the breaded fish.
An online crowdfunding site was set up to raise the £500 fee to register a candidate in the June 8 General Election.
The site proclaims how Mr Fish Finger wants to "knock Tim Farron off his perch and put him in his plaice".
It has already raised more than £1,300 - with the figure rising steadily.
It is believed someone will change their name by deed poll to Mr Fish Finger and conduct any official business dressed as a fish finger.
Mr Farron has yet to respond to the candidate announcement.
