Free parking should be provided for Keswick residents to compensate the town for increased parking charges, town councillors have said.
Town and borough councillor Tony Lywood has called on Allerdale council's executive to offer a period of free parking for locals in its car parks.
He told colleagues that council leader Coun Alan Smith and the executive member responsible for parking, Coun Mike Heaslip, were considering the proposal.
The town council agreed to write in support of the suggestion.
