An arts and education charity has received a £500 boost from the Times & Star Charitable Trust.
The Settlement, on High Street, runs a programme of arts-based activities.
As well as boosting community spirit, they help to reduce isolation, include motivation, aspiration, health and employability and provide volunteering and training opportunities.
Among its groups are Monday arts and craft sessions, Friday craft and chat, gardening sessions and a weekly work club.
It also provides after-school clubs, a Saturday club, family workshops and school holiday clubs for children.
The donation will be used to help support the continued running of the centre.
Alan Roper, who works at The Settlement, said: "It helps to ensure The Settlement can carry on providing activities for the community.
"We are delighted to get this donation. It's nice that in these austere times there is still money for community projects."
