Five of the country's hard men will help a little boy to thank his school on Saturday.

Adrian Kirkbride, of Bricktop Productions, is bringing five former boxers to town to talk about the ups and downs of their lives.

At the same time, they will be creating an opportunity to raise money for Maryport Infant School on Camp Road.

Adrian's son, Odin, now six, fell from a 10ft rugby stand in October, landing headfirst onto concrete and smashing his skull.

He has had two bleeds to the brain and has spent nearly six weeks in Alder Hey hospital in Liverpool.

Adrian said: "Maryport Infants has been really supportive because Odin has missed a bit of school.

"The head, Tina Beddoe, and all the teachers have been brilliant with him and us and we would like to show our appreciation."

Norman Buckland is the first, "the Guvner" has led a violent life but is "old school polite."

He has been a boxer, security guard, debt collector, "protection" guy, and prisoner.

Matt Legg is a former professional boxer, whose fights included one against  Anthony Joshua, the current Heavyweight World Champion.

Alfie Buckland was a big presence in 80s and 90s gangland at the height of the rave scene and Decca Heggie hung up his gloves but went on to win heavyweight bare knuckle boxing titles.

The fifth speaker is Ray 'Uncle Harry' Carters, who will be able to drop a few notorious names and show a few some unseen photos belonging to the family of the London underworld criminal, Joey Pyle.

The event will take place at the Maryport Rugby Club on Saturday at 7pm.

Tickets are £20 and are available by calling 07956625562 or 07769332445.
