Ireby Festival returns tomorrow and Saturday and is living up to its reputation as “the festival that sells out fast”.

Having sold out before Easter, Ireby Festival’s preparations are in full swing for the bank holiday spectacular.

Yorkshire’s Kate Rusby is four times winner of the BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards, including, in 2000, Folk Singer Of The Year, and in 2006, Best live Act. No stranger to Ireby, Kate last performed here in 2010, and will be back to headline the Friday night.

Following their huge success at this year’s Cambridge Folk Festival, CoCo and the Butterfields are set to take the Saturday night main stage by storm with their powerful melodies and driving beatbox to deliver memorable and infectious songs.

The Globe Hall late night dance features The Swing Commanders with their mix of 1940s classics, boogie-woogie, western swing, 50s jump jazz and more.

There will be more than 20 acts performing, offering something for music lovers of all tastes, including The Jar Family, an industrial folk band, and The Changing Room, a five-piece folk band from Cornwall.

Local musicians are involved too, including West Cumbrian duo Chapin-Wickwar and singer-songwriter Elaine Davidson.

Saturday afternoon tickets may be available on the day at the festival office.
