His interpretation of the evil Joker has scooped a Cumbrian man two awards at the first Carlisle Comic Con.

About 4,000 people took part in the event at the Richard Rose Central Academy but it was Benjamin Park’s Batman villain which proved most popular with judges of the cosplay competition.

Benjamin, of Maryport, won best male costume and was the overall winner.

Lindsay Kairns, from Aspatria, was named winner of the best female costume for her Tank Girl while the best junior was Lucy Bell, of Wigton, with her version of Little Red Riding Hood.

Each winner was presented with a trophy. They also won a photo shoot from Lee Archer Photography and prizes from retailer Game.

Celebrities who met fans on Saturday included former Doctor Who star Colin Baker and Norman Lovett, who played Holly in Red Dwarf.
