Walking enthusiasts turned out at Keswick's Derwentwater Foreshore to see TV presenter Julia Bradbury launch a newly marked walk.

Julia, a keen supporter of the Lake District, launched the Derwentwater Walk during the annual Keswick Mountain Festival.

She waved a group of about 30 walkers off to walk the 10-mile route, which is being championed by the National Trust, Lake District National Park Authority and Keswick Tourism Association.

It forms part of the See More Cumbria and the Lake District programme’s Keswick-Borrowdale Corridor Travel Planning Group.

Jessie Binns, visitor experience and engagement manager for the National Trust’s north Lakes team, said: "The group knew that if we were to do one thing to make the experience of visiting Keswick and Derwentwater better for visitors, it was to make footpath around the lake easier to navigate."

The waymarkers, with a logo featuring Friar’s Crag, have been installed by rangers and volunteers from the National Trust and the Lake District National Park.

A free leaflet with a map, directions and landmarks has been produced by Keswick Tourism Association.
