The life of singer Kathleen Ferrier is being celebrated in a touring play in West Cumbria this week.

Whatalife! tells the story of the singer who rose to fame while living in Silloth.

The Arts Out West tour features actress and contralto Lucy Stevens, who has researched and created a performance featuring text taken straight from Ferrier's letters and diaries.

Songs from her repertoire are woven into the show, which tells her story from her singing debut in 1940 through her meteroic rise to her death in 1953.

The show will be at the Kirkgate Centre on Thursday at 1.45pm. To book call 01900 826448 or 01900 829966.
