Town councillors in Keswick are calling for double yellow lines in an area blighted by problem parking.
Concerns have been raised in recent weeks about traffic parking on both sides of Heads Road, between Lake Road and Borrowdale Road.
Despite no parking being permitted between Easter and October, vehicles are still being left there.
Councillor Andrew Lysser said the problem could hold up emergency services trying to access Borrowdale.
Just last week fire crews from across the area attended a blaze in the valley.
Coun Lysser, the town’s county council, is calling on the authority to consider double yellow lines on the lake side of the road.
The town council voted to write to the county council backing the suggestion.
