A Maryport woman has been injured in a crash involving a tanker.
The 45-year-old was cut free from a car by firefighters after the two-vehicle collision this morning.
It happened on Carlisle's western bypass at 7.20am.
A stretch of the A689 between Burgh Road and Dukes Drive was closed while the incident was dealt with.
Diversions were put in place, taking motorists through the city itself.
That brought traffic to a standstill across Carlisle, with reports of delays on the motorway too.
Recovery of the vehicles took some time and the road reopened at about 11am.
