More maintenance and further development has been promised to residents of Maryport.
Ian Frost, Maryport community champion and chief executive of Allerdale council, said: “Fleming Square is a real asset for the town with great architecture and history.
"A regeneration scheme was carried out some years ago and we’re keen to support local residents to maintain and improve their square for everybody to enjoy.”
Residents contacted Mr Frost about the square and, as a result, the council consulted with residents on the square and surrounding streets.
The council's contractors, ISS, will be asked to looked at an enhanced maintenance programme for the square.
Mr Frost said it is also hoped that, in the longer term, when funding is available, more improvements could be made.
