Part of the A66 in Cumbria will be closed overnight from Saturday for two weeks.

The road will be closed in both directions at Thornthwaite between 8pm and 6am until June 24 to allow surfacing to be carried out and safety barriers to be installed.

It is part of ongoing work to raise the road surface and increase its flood resilience.

Traffic lights and a 40mph limit will remain in place outside those times.

One lane of the eastbound carriageway at Bassenthwaite Lake remains closed for safety.

Traffic travelling between Keswick and West Cumbria will be diverted via the A591. HGVs will be directed via the M6 and A595.
