To celebrate the start of a new year Cockermouth Music Society’s first concert of 2017 brings a prestigious group of musicians to the town.

The brilliant Endymion Ensemble features six musicians at the top of their profession and six instruments: violins, cello, clarinet, horn and piano.

The newest member, Anne Douglass, the horn player, won the BBC Young Musician brass category in 2010 and already plays in top orchestras and in recitals at venues such as Wigmore Hall and Glamis Castle.

Their programme features music by Martinu, Brahms and a thrilling Sextet by Dohnanyi involving all six players.

The concert takes place on Tuesday, January 24, at 7.30pm in the United Reformed Church, Main Street, Cockermouth.

Tickets are on sale at Billy Bowman Music Shop, Lowther Went, or call 016973 71397 before January 24.
