The charity decided to move the new premises as it is bigger than the St Michael's premises.

The new centre has been funded through several charities and councils and it provides information, advice and access to Age UK and partner services and mobility and dementia aids for purchase or on prescription.

A community activity suite has been put in upstairs with adaptable furniture, computer facilities, a hearing loop, a small kitchen and a toilet.

At the open day, people could see and test out special equipment including hoists and mobility products and look round the centre.

Shelley said: "This is somewhere we're going to be using throughout Noah's life. Age UK means any age.

"Noah has pointed everything out and he loved the hoists and wheelchairs."

A cheque presentation also took place on the day to mark Tesco donating £500 to help with the costs of the centre.

Anne Broome, centre manager, said: "We're delighted with how the day has gone. We've had a lot of people from the general public, social sector and third sector.

"It's important for the people of West Cumbria to have an Active Living Centre and people have been able to try before they buy."
