The company behind a 217-home estate in Cockermouth wants to create a community notice board.
Lovell is the developer of The Laureates, off Low Road.
It has written to the town council, asking for its views on a noticeboard.
A company spokesman said: "We are thinking of applying for planning permission to have a community notice board on Low Road adjacent to the site entrance, close to the near-completed cycle route.
"As more families are moving into the area we would like to have a board so the new community can start to integrate with the current town.
"Our thoughts for the board contents would display what is happening locally along with contact details of our site for emergencies, and the progress of the development to keep the locals involved and up-to-date."
