Three Workington play areas will be sold for £1 each to secure their future.
Allerdale council's executive committee agreed yesterday to transfer the play area and car park at Harrington Marina, the land next to play ground at Newlands Lane and the town's Vulcan Park to the town council for a total of £3.
The district council decided in 2011 that it would no longer take responsibility for parks and play areas and would transfer them to local parishes.
As part of the deal, Allerdale council will give Workington Town Council £46,135 towards maintenance and upgrading of the land and £20,568 for the following year.
