A police vehicle was in collision with a crashed car on a main West Cumbrian road as emergency services travelled to the scene this morning.

Police were called to a two-car crash between a Citroen and a Vauxhall Corsa on the A5086 near Deanscales around 9.20am.

Before they arrived, a Civil Nuclear Constabulary vehicle was in collision with the Citroen.

The Citroen driver, a 45-year-old woman from Frizington, was cut from her vehicle by firefighters and taken to hospital with minor injuries.

The Corsa driver was a 17-year-old from Workington.

He was uninjured, along with the 31-year-old man driving the police vehicle.

The road was closed between Deanscales and Ullock while police dealt with the incident.

It has since reopened.
