A second public defibrillator has been installed in Dearham.

The new defibrillator cabinet is on the outside wall of the Commercial Inn, near the bus shelter.

Alex Moore, from Dearham and District First Responders, said: "The £1,500 cabinet has been made possible by donations from the James Walker Charity and Ellenborough Athletic Club along with donations from our charity boxes."

He added that, with the growing population of Dearham, a second defibrillator in a public place was extremely useful.

The other one is on wall of the Sun Inn.

Alex added: "Both defibrillators are now online. That means, in an emergency, people can dial 999 and the North West Ambulance Service has both the codes and the location of the machines."

He thanked those who had donated to the cost of the cabinet and to publicans, George and Mary Brown for their support.

He added: "We are grateful to all those who help us in the fight for every heartbeat, which is our motto.

"We wish them all a good new year and hope to be able to announce the installation of more defibrillators in 2017."
