Winds of up to 50 miles an hour forecast for the weekend are forcing organisers of Workington's Christmas festival to rethink their plans.
Severe weather warnings are in place from the Met Office and organisers of Workington's Winter Wonderland have drawn up contingency plans to make sure the event still goes ahead.
An urgent meeting will be held tomorrow morning ahead of the events in the town centre to see if events and attractions have to be moved.
Toni Magean, town centre manager, said the Christmas lights switch-on at 6pm tomorrow should go ahead, but there were plans to move some of the attractions and entertainment in the event of bad weather.
He added that planned continental market stalls could be closed if the gusts of wind are too dangerous.
The Met Office has issued a severe weather warning for Workington from 9am tomorrow until Tuesday.
