A weather warning for snow has been issued for Cumbria.
The Met Office says heavy rain is likely to turn into snow in places across the county early tomorrow as it meets cold air.
Between 2-5cm could fall in places, largely above 150m. Up to 10cm could fall on the highest ground, above 300m.
The weather system moving northward through northern England tonight will become slow moving.
Forecasters predict it will bring a risk of difficult travel conditions for Wednesday morning's rush hour period, particularly over cross-Pennine routes.
Surface water and slush could also cause problems across the area.
The yellow warning is valid from 3am until noon on Wednesday.
