A talk will be held in Lorton, on the History of Cumberland and Westmorland Antiquarian and Archaeological Society, which was formed 150 years ago.
The talk, by Professor Angus Winchester, will start at 7.30pm, on Thursday, March 9, in Yew Tree Hall. Entry is £3 and includes refreshments.
The society is still going strong, as the leading body in the study of Cumbria's past. This talk traces its fortunes from its first meeting in Penrith in 1866 to the present day.
