More than 100 people will take part in a fun-filled boat race on Saturday as teams battle it out in the Tiger Boat Challenge on Derwentwater.

Twelve teams of 10 have signed up for the fundraising event which is organised by the rotary clubs of Bassenthwaite and Workington Derwent.

The teams include local farmers, physios, solicitors and estate agents. They will be raising money for lots of charities, including the Calvert Trust, Keswick Mountain Rescue Team, Teenage Cancer Trust and Friends of Lorton School.

Each team will take part in three races throughout the day, the first one is at 10am.

This will be the 11th year the challenge has been held, during that time it has raised more than £70,000 for lots of charities.

Alan Urquhart, of Bassenthwaite Rotary Club, said: "It's a fun day, with a nice competitive edge and gives people the chance to raise money for good causes.

"It's a real boost to the charity sector from 120 folk having a bit of fun on the water."
