A popular Cockermouth event, cancelled earlier this year due to bad weather, will take place next weekend.

The Touch A Truck Show takes place on Sunday, September 11 and organisers are hoping that hundreds of people will attend.

It was originally planned to be held in May but was called off after rain swamped the field.

The highlight of the event is a competition to name one of the iconic Eddie Stobart trucks.

This is the fourth time that the town’s Rotary Club has organised the show which raises money for charities.

Joe Fagan, of the Rotary Club, said: “It has taken a while for us to reschedule as we are dependent on the hauliers.

“We are hoping this time it will be a much bigger and better show. We have more exhibits, including an emergency services section.”

There will be a selection of vehicles at James Walker factory site, off Gote Road, and the next-door Deer Orchard football field.

Entry is £5 for adults and £2 for children, which includes free fairground rides, a bouncy castle, storyteller tent and entertainment.

Those attending will be able to pay £1 to suggest a female name for an Eddie Stobart wagon.

The winner will be drawn at the end of the show, which runs from 10am to 4pm.
