Reporter Chris Cook visited the town yesterday to find out how the town might fare if Britain left the European Union.
He said in its simplest form he was trying to find out if people had more trust in London or Brussels.
He added: “The UK pays money to be in Europe and gets some back.
“If we left the EU, do people here feel that London would invest the same or more in this area than Brussels. I have spoken to a lot of farmers.
“Many of them have told me they would love to leave Europe but most have said they would vote to stay because there is such a strong lobby, especially from the French, on behalf of agriculture.”
In Maryport he visited Her Citi, a cafe owned by Love Maryport chairman Debbie Wright.
She told him about an £100,000 investment in the town by the Government through the Coastal Communities project.
He also visited the town’s Lake District Coast Aquarium, which was set up with the help of European funding.
