Cockermouth's town centre toilets will open today - with a 20p charge.
The town’s four public toilets have transferred from Allerdale council to the town council following refurbishment work which started four months ago.
The borough council agreed to bring the toilets up to a usable standard of repair and install two pay-to-enter systems at a cost of about £50,000.
A 20p charge will apply at the Main Street and Bitterbeck car park toilets, while those in Harris Park and Memorial Gardens will remain free.
The Main Street and Bitterbeck toilets will be open daily. Those in Harris Park will only be open during the summer holidays, while the Memorial Gardens block will only open during events.
The toilets were meant to be transferred on April 1 but refurbishment work was delayed.
