Performers will take to Cockermouth's streets, cafes, shops, pubs, hotels and churches in June.

Cockermouth Live! will take place from Friday, June 24, to Sunday, June 26.

Bob Pritchard, chairman, said: "We hope that by the end of June all the flooded premises will be back up and running, and Cockermouth Live! can once again spread the word that Cockermouth is open for business.

"We want to showcase the best of local talent, whether it’s music, theatre, dance or any aspect of the performing arts, and applications to perform are open now.

"We also want to hear from any shops, cafes or pubs who might be interested in hosting performers for a couple of hours during the day."

Organisers want to provide more activities for children and families this year.

He said: "We’ve already booked a show by the Three Half Pints, a comedy trio who are currently appearing on Spot Bots, a new CBeebies show on Sunday mornings.

"We’re also planning craft workshops, circus skills, storytelling and discovery trails through the day.

“Headline acts are being negotiated, but we can say now that the ever-popular Papcastle Community Orchestra will give a concert in Christ Church, including a new composition by Phil Wood based on World War One songs."

La’al Beggars, Cumbria’s only community opera group, is also planning a new show.

Venues who can host a performer should email info@cockermouthfestival.org
