Fans of a popular route washed away by the 2015 floods are being asked to help secure its future.

The Lake District National Park is working on plans to reconnect the Keswick to Threlkeld railway route but needs input from users to help secure funding for repairs.

The authority is calling on people to complete an online survey by January 15 to help them determine how best to reestablish the railway path between Keswick and Threlkeld.

It is hoped answers from the survey can help the authority understand how people use the route and how the closure has impacted on them.

The authority has closed off all damaged and missing bridges in the remaining half of the flat route in the interest of public safety.

The route is one of the Lake District's most popular among walkers, cyclists and those with limited mobility.

Due to the extensive scale of the damage it is estimated that it could take up to two years to work up a suitable solution and reopen the full route.
