Nineties legends Fun Lovin’ Criminals will bring their laid-back summer tunes and unmistakable New York charm to the Cumbrian fields at this year’s CockRock festival.
The band will headline the Friday night of the festival, which takes place between July 20 and 22.
They stormed onto the British music scene in 1996 with their unmistakable mix of hip-hop and rock mixed with funk, soul and Latin vibes.
They formed in 1993 when front man Huey Morgan and multi-instrumentalist Brian “Fast” Leiser were working together in a New York nightclub and were joined by current drummer Frank Benbini in 2003.
The band’s first album, Come Find Yourself, reached number seven in the UK album charts and produced top 40 hits including Scooby Snacks, The Fun Lovin' Criminal and King Of New York.
Also announced for this year’s festival are Hertfordshire quartet Lower Than Atlantis, who have burst onto the music scene with their mix of punk, rock and pop.
Their second album, World Record, which was released last year, saw the band rise from underground obscurity to mainstream radio play and gain a growing army of fans.
Their first and second singles, Beech Like The Tree and Deadliest Catch, were both named as hottest records in the world by BBC Radio 1’s Zane Lowe, and they played at the Download and Sonisphere festivals in 2011.
More acts announced today include Senser, The Dangleberries, Top Boy Around Here and Benjamin Bloom.
They will join a huge array of big name acts already announced for the Wellington Farm festival including Buzzcocks, Dr and the Medics, Tinchy Stryder and The Subways.
Tickets are available from the Times & Star office in Oxford Street, Workington.
