Olympic fever will come to West Cumbria on Thursday as the torch relay arrives.

Hhmmm... Wonder if more people would have "taken to the streets" had there been more of an Olympic fever in Workington?! What exactly did we have..? Absolutely pathetic excuse of a once in a lifetime occasion in my opinion.

sorry i cant share mark fryers comments about the olympic torch,what will the games bring to west cumberland?
i ,d like to remind mark fryer that the lottery money thats paying for these games plus keeping thetop athletes in money should be spent on more local stuff that the money the ellenborough community are going to get.
if i remember rightly the previous tome that labour were in opposition they were opposed to a national lottery on the grounds it was a tax on the poor,but it didnt take long to get their grubby hands on it once they came to power.
tessa jowell has been made a dame no doubt due to the olympics,but this was a woman who put the cost at 3 billion,now its over 9 billion,just think mark even a billion of that would have done for this area,never mind as long as lord coe and the rest line their pockets.
