West Cumbria's first electric car has spark

This car has been turning quite a few heads in Cockermouth.

Have your say

Wonder what the electricity bill would be to fully charge the thing!!

What's wrong with Toyota's wonderful Prius, it also recharges downhill. Though it is combined petrol/electric energy, it is still most economical and doesn't cost £28k either !! It csn be had in a 7 seater version now as well as the 5 seat. Also, no need for laborious hours of plug charging!

On the surface this seems like a good idea, but I agree with laughing it seems pretty useless.
This is no more than a toy car. How can the sales manager at Border Cars be under the impression this is suitable as a company car? They usually do quite a bit of mileage and 80 miles doesn't go far.
It would have been interesting to have included in the article the cost in electric of charging the car for 7 hours.

80 miles - 7 hours to charge, chocolate and teapot spring to mind.

Until they find a solution to offer 300 miles, and charge no longer than it takes to get a coffee... a mobility scooter is a better option!
