Woman airlifted to hospital after crash

A WOMAN was airlifted to hospital after a two-car crash on the A66 near Keswick yesterday.
The accident happened at about 3.25pm between the turn off for St Johns in the Vale, near Threlkeld village, and High Briery, near Keswick.
The 55-year-old Ambleside woman was the driver of a Nissan X-Trail which was in collision with a Volkswagen Golf, driven by a 64-year-old man.
She was taken to Carlisle's Cumberland Infirmary in Carlisle for treatment and was later discharged. She is not thought to be seriously injured.
Diversions were put in place for about four hours while emergency services were at the scene.
The driver of the Golf was also taken to hospital for treatment. It is understood he was not seriously injured.
