Tanzania trip’s £1,000 leg wax

A COCKERMOUTH School pupil raised almost £1,000 for a trip to Tanzania by getting his legs waxed.

Christopher West, 17, of Main Street, Cockermouth raised £958.

“It really hurt,” said Christopher, “I wanted to raise some money so I could go to Tanzania to do some charity work next summer. We are also hoping to be able to climb Mount Kilimanjaro when we are there too.

“I was nervous before I got my legs waxed and it really hurt, but I didn’t cry.

“It took 15 minutes to do but it felt like hours.”

Fellow classmates watched as Bryony Smith, of the town’s Elements Health and Beauty, ripped the wax strips off.

Christopher said: “I’ve done my bit to raise money but I would never do it again. It hurt too much.” He was sponsored by Mitchell’s Auctions.
