Obituary Eleanor Harrison

ELEANOR Harrison, who will be remembered by many people from her years as a teacher in West Cumbria, has died at the age of 91.

Mrs Harrison, nee Little, was brought up in the Workington area and taught at Brigham School until she married her husband Tom, a North-Easterner who worked as a legal executive for Milburns’ solicitors.

She also taught at Northside and at Moss Bay schools in Workington, and at Seaton, from where she retired in 1977.

Mrs Harrison was involved with Workington Playgoers, painting scenery and acting as stage manager during the war years, and was also a keen rock climber.

After the death of her husband in 1989, she moved to Kent to live with her daughter, Ruth Hawkins. Her other child, a son, died as a toddler and she is survived by Ruth and by three grandchildren.

Mrs Harrison’s funeral was due to take place in Kent yesterday.
