This week, I have embarked on a new food regime to help me become a better athlete. Please, no sniggering at the back.

Before I began running, I never used to eat during the day. I'm not really sure why as it didn't make me slimmer.

Anyway, running made me hungry all the time and Sam and Jo from BodyFit convinced me that fuelling my body was the right way to go.

It was - how could have I doubted my running gurus? So since about June, I've been breakfasting and lunching like a king.

Well, I say king. More like a weird food obsessive.

I have almost exclusively eaten peanut butter sandwiches and chocolate spread sandwiches.

Now it's February, it's getting boring and I am very aware that I am a lazy woman with no willpower. That's why I don't do diets.

If I pop out to Graham's for a sandwich, I will come back with something with salad (hurrah!) and crisps and a chocolate bar (boo!). I just can't help myself.

I'm still losing weight too, due to the running, but I don't want to eat a load of rubbish as my normal diet in case I ever can't run and then balloon in weight.

Folding over a slice of bread in the morning with a spread is classed as hard work in my household. I even stopped having butter on them as it was too much hassle melting it in the microwave.

Chances of me shopping for good, healthy stuff and preparing it for work are, quite frankly, nil.

It's not helped by my husband who only classes potatoes as vegetables and thinks anything green is evil, except for peas.

Then I discovered a local bloke who, for cash, will deliver 18 meals to your door a week.

It's a proper company, called Muscle Chef, and not just a random man, you understand.

Perfect - he does all the hard work of shopping and preparing and all I have to do is remember to take stuff to work.

It works out at just under £3 a meal and so far, so delicious.

It has also led me to the discovery that I like cous cous, which I thought I hated.

The portions are on the small size, mind you, as it is meant as a weight loss plan.

Although I'm distinctly not on a diet, I am wondering how much I can lose by just eating his food, as an experiment.

But I still need to work out how much extra I can eat. I figure I'll need extra fuel so I don't faint mid-run and cause myself any more embarrassment in class.
