Award-winning chef David Jackson is offering four diners a unique al fresco experience at the Lake District's top table.

David, 45, will prepare a full four-course dinner plus canapes high on the fells in the beautiful Borrowdale Valley above where he works at the Hazel Bank Country House at Rosthwaite.

The one-off fellside meal will be cooked at the remote Rigg Head, just below the 2,470ft Dale Head peak and served at a table for four, complete with complimentary bottle of champagne.

David, of Rosthwaite in Borrowdale, is raising money for the British Heart Foundation by asking would-be diners to donate via his JustGiving page.

The winning name will be drawn next Friday.

It's David's personal way of saying thank you to the charity whose work helped saved his brother Stanley's life. David, a father-of-six, said: "Thirty years ago this year, I lost my dad Wils to heart disease when he was aged 53.

"Two years ago, I almost lost my brother Stanley.

"Heart disease remains the biggest killer in the UK but death rates are falling year by year and in those 28 years, massive strides have been taken by the British Heart Foundation.

"As a result, my brother's life was saved due to the expertise developed by this remarkable charity.

"It is my goal to repay them in memory of my late father and in doing so produce a once-in-a-lifetime experience for four guests who love great food and amazing scenery that will stay with them forever."

David is already more than halfway towards his fund-raising target of £2,500.

David, who has been awarded an AA Rosette, added: "I have walked up there on the fells all my life and have always thought what a place to sit and have a meal.

"It's also my 30th anniversary of working as a chef, so this seems like a great time to be serving food at the ultimate 'window seat' for a great cause and an unforgettable experience for whoever wins."
